Googling safely.

One of the manyfrustrations of the internet is searching for something and getting your returns list dotted with inappropriate websites. Many search engines do have an option to search safely and avoid the adult websites. Listed on the right of The Gadget Pastor, we have a Google Safe Search tool. You can use this and that kind of material will be left out. In my experiences, this has proven to be quite effective. Here are the steps to take to set your search engine to avoid listing adult websites in your searchs.

How to enable Google Safe Search

1. On the main page of Google, click on preferences.
2. Towards the bottom of the Preferences pagge, you will see the Google Safe Search box. Check the option for Google to use strict filtering.
3. Click on Save Changes and you're done!

How to enable Yahoo

1. Go to search.yahoo.com/preferences
2. Click on edit and set Safe search to the first setting "Filter out adult web, video, and image..."
3. Click Save/change and you're done!

While this is not full-proof by any means, it does offer some protection. It might be a good idea to set all computers that you have to these settings. I have done this in our school's computers that are online. An internet filtering program would offer more in eliminating this issue and allow you to completely control the level of access to the internet. Even though a internet filtering program might be a hassle it would prove to be an invaluable tool to stopping someone from falling into temptation.
