Gmail Java App Tricks

I've learned some new tricks to using the new Gmail Java app.

  • If you dislike the low-resolution look, you can change this by going to Prefs, tapping on IBM Java VM, and checking Use high resolution coordinates. Click done and you will be in high-resolution mode when you use the Gmail App
  • If you want to reduce the flickering between menus, go to Prefs, tap on IBM Java VM, and check use Double Buffering. Click done and no more flickering!
  • For my Lifedrive, I can use the numbers on my Graffiti area to delete a message or archive a message. In others words, Gmail will respond to number inputs from the Graffiti area. So whether you tap it or Graffiti it, you can use those number commands.
  • If you are tired of answering the permissions question, see this post and download the j9secpol.prc file. Install it and no more permissions questions!
Much of this, I learned from the forums of Palm Addicts. Here is the link to that thread discussing the new Gmail App.
