eBible software for Palm and your PC

Today I purchased eBible for my PC. I have been using eBible for the Palm OS for sometime now after finding it at my local Christian bookstore. Well, while on vacation I visited a Christian bookstore and they had eBible PC edition available. So I bought it and I'm excited as it seems it will be a good help to me as I study for sermons and my Sunday school lessons and whatever else I need to do. I highly recommend purchasing a Bible program for your computer as they can be a tremendous help. I have tried Online Bible, Power Bible, and now I'll give eBible a go and see how I like it. We are still on vacation and will be back home this weekend.

Cool things I saw while on my trip

Well, we made it to Florida safe and sound. Had a bit of a bumpy ride on our last flight because of some weather. We had a layover in Alanta and I saw a Palm kiosk and an interesting cellphone charger display. I guess you could pay $3 for about 30min of recharging. I could see some folks paying for such a thing in a desparate moment, but I thought who would want to stand next to the display while you phone charges for 30min. Nice thought, but a bit arkward I think. Anyways, I noticed lots of Blackberrys, Treos, and Motorola Qs. Its always interesting to see what kind of gadgets people have. I am amazed also at how loudly people talk on their phones. Its kinda crazy. We also had free XM Radio service. That was nice as I just recently purchased that for my dad on Father's day and was quite familiar with as I "demoed" my dad's for a couple days.. Lots of other interesting gadgets I saw on and off the plane. Well, I'll go now.

And we're off!

We are just minutes away from our vacation! My gadgets our loaded and my wife has everything packed as we just finish a few last minute tasks. I was thinking that once I return that I will take the site live and maybe I'll start off with a contest or something that might interest a few folks to became faithful readers of the site. It's my hope the The Gadget Pastor blog and all its resources would be a help to your ministry and that any tips you have for ministry and technology you could share here at the The Gadget Pastor blog. After all, I'm sure there are many other gadget pastors out there who enjoy technology as a hobby and as tool for ministry. So with in the next few weeks we will be taking the site live. I hope that everyone enjoys what is to come. For now, all I'm thinking is vacation! I'll be posting via my Lifedrive and an app called u*Blog while I'm away.

My favorite gadget... My Palm Lifedrive PDA

One of my favorite and most used gadgets is my Palm Lifedrive, a PDA. I use it as my calendar, to do manager, contact manager, email checker, watch DVDs, share photos with others, edit documents, post to my blogs, read the news, read and study the Bible, type out Sunday School lessons and sermons, check the weather, listen to music, record voice memos, play games, use it to wake me up in the morning, track my expenses, get directions to homes, and much, much more. I have found that my Lifedrive makes me far more productive and effective in my ministry. Just the ability to have phone numbers and my appointments in a small package makes it worth having alone.
From time to time I will be posting on how to maximize a PDA to your ministry. I have only been a Palm OS user and have not really been a Pocket PC user. I've tried them, but that's about it. No long term use of them. So most of my solutions, software recommendations, tips and tricks will come from a Palm user's perspective. I hope you find them helpful and beneficial to your ministry and work.

I'll be on vacation shortly

My family and I will be traveling to Florida for our family vacation. Of course, we are all excited as we visit family and friends, but I've also got a couple new gadgets I'll be taking with me. Recently, I purchased a DVD player and an infrared keyboard for my favorite gadget, my Palm Lifedrive. The DVD player is for my kids and the keyboard is so I can enter data into my Lifedrive easily and a lot faster, if I find some time to do so on the plane with three kids four and under. ;) It will be a nice break for my family and me and one long coming. I can't help but think how easy it is to travel nowadays compared to Bible times. God has been quite good to us!

Thoughts on Called: Hello, My name is Mrs. Jefferson. I understand your plane is being hijacked?: 9:45am, Flight 93, September 11, 2001.

I was listening to Rejoice radio today via their streaming audio link. I really like being able to listening to Christian radio via the internet as we have just a couple Christian radio stations in the Buffalo area. The ones we do have, I really don't listen to them, but I do like listening to Rejoice as they have a good variety of music, preaching, and talk shows. Anyways, on their station today, I heard Cross Talk America and they were discussing Lisa Jefferson's book Called: Hello, My name is Mrs. Jefferson. I understand your plane is being hijacked?: 9:45am, Flight 93, September 11, 2001. The show was quite moving. I would highly suggest that you take the time to listen to that show as it brought back a lot of feelings and memories for me. Mrs. Jefferson's shared her account of that morning as well as what the Lord has been doing since 9/11. I think overall it reminded me to be faithful as you never know when God will use you next.

Welcome to the highly anticipated blog, The Gadget Buff!!!

OK, so maye this isn't highly anticipated (except by me). However, the The Gadget Buff blog is meant to serve as a help to other pastors, assistant pastors, youth pastors, and other church leaders and workers. Gadget news will be covered from time to time, but our main thrust is to give ideas and help to those wanting to implement or are using technology in their ministry. A forum will be available soon. As for now, we haven't gone live yet, but please keep checking back in the next few weeks.
