I saw this over at The Gadgeteer and this looks like a great gift for the kids, especially those who are learning to type. It's called the USB Hamster Wheel. The Hamster keeps pace with the speed of your typing. So it could be quite entertaining, possibly distracting, but nevertheless amusing! So give it for a Christmas present to the kids!
